Introduction
Tamarind Rice or Pulihogara/pulihora is very well known in south-India and is also served as prasadam in temples.I love this dish for its tanginess and for the fact its less on oil.Its quick, easy and very tasty dish.

Ingredients
cooked Rice-2-3 cups
Tamarind Juice-1/4 cup
Peanuts-1-2 fistful
Oil-3 Tbsp
Channa Dal-1-1/4 Tsp
Fenugreek seeds-1Tsp
Dry Red chilli-3-4
Mustard seeds/Rai-1 Tsp
curry leaves-10 leaves
Hing/asafoetida- 1/2 tsp#
Red chilli powder- 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric-1Tsp
Roasted Sesame Seeds- 2 Tsp
Green Chilli–3
Coriander Powder-1Tbsp
Cumin Powder-1 Tsp(optional)
Salt to taste
Method
Heat oil in a pan and fry peanuts on low heat until brown and remove.
In same oil add mustard seeds and let them sputter then add dry red chilli.
Now add channa dal,curry leaves,hing powder and green chilli and give it a stir
Add Turmeric powder ,Tamarind juice ,coriander,cumin and red chilli powder and let it cook .
Now add the fried peanuts add little water and cook on low flame.
Ground the roasted sesame seeds and add it to the mixture and cook for 15 mins or till oil oozes out .
Add the cooked rice to the mixture and cook on low flame for 2 min so that the rice absorbs the flavour .Serve Hot.
